brides to be: what is the most stressful experience you've had so far?

by Golo Managing Editor

Hey there all you brides-to-be. It's been 14 years since I've been in your shoes, but I remember the stress like it was yesterday. I specifically remember the stress brought on by my mother, (who has the uncanny ability to drive me crazy even though we are separated by at least four states) oh and then there was the issue with the flowers that made me cry..but I digress.

So tell me about you. What's got your stress level soaring these days? Maybe the other brides-to-be can help or at least commiserate!

I thought that the entire experience was stressful. I am an older bride, married for the first time, and I felt that all my vendors treated brides as if we have no brains. I felt dissed often and I definitely got the feeling that they all sense we are "money in the bank" for their business. I had self control, a budget, and began planning over a year before the wedding. My total costs for a church wedding, dinner reception etc. was about $15,000. I paid it all off before the wedding as I did not want to be in debt.

Most stressful moment: my husband loves bagpipes and his favorite song is "Amazing Grace".. so I slipped around and got Doug (a good friend of the PD in Savannah) to pipe it. I'm getting dressed and I hear the pipes warming up. I freaked and had my best friend go stop him....my husband was so intense on the wedding getting started, he never even noticed!

My stressful wedding moment: The photographer accidentally knocked over a burning candle while taking pictures of me and my husband in the church. The candle fell on the train of my dress. Thankfully, my dress didn’t catch fire, but I did have wax all over it. I can laugh about it now, but at the time, yikes! :)

Mine happened AFTER the wedding. We were at the Reception (sit down dinner) and one of the flower bouquets at one of the tables caught fire. I laughed so hard I almost peed in my big, white poofy dress.

( Treyburn's staff put out the fire)

Oh Tidbit, if I were your coworker, after waiting about a week, if I didn't hear anything, I'd take my picture somewhere else and tell them to stuff it.

Tidbit: First clue...if they aren't back to me on the first date, there isn't a second date! Does she have a consultant? If so, they should have a list of preferred vendors (I have five I really love working with). Tell your firend, she is in the driver's seat. She can easily go some where else, her money is green and good! Some vendors just need to be reminded...especially in this economic downturn.

Marrying a man who wants to be to involved in the wedding planning...haha

i just talked to a girl whose wedding planner quit on her three mos. before the big day because someone called her to do a more expensive wedding...what a crock! talk about stress...sheesh!

Tidbit I would have taken my business elsewhere. If they are too busy for a quote they are too busy for me.

I know this has nothing to do with this blog..anyhoo like what you started today...
