thursday rant
Published Jul. 17, 2008I want to make a cake for my hubby. He has been so amazingly supportive the past few weeks while I've been dealing with some personal issues. He really loves chocolate and peanut butter...and I really love cake. So maybe if I mix the two we can both enjoy it? Hm...I want to make a really fancy cake. How do I make a really fancy cake that will impress him? I mean...if I made a grilled cheese without burning it he'd be impressed...so as you can see I need like very detailed instructions. I know that someone out there in gololand can help me with this. You guys are my saving grace most days I'll tell ya! I want to do like the really detailed flower designs...some squigglys...I dont' know, something impressive. And I don't want to buy it from Harris Teeter...although they do have some really good cakes. Anyway...anyone out there have a great...very detailed recipe for a great cake involving chocolate and peanut butter?
When I look out of my office window I see starbucks. Grande Iced Carmel Macchiato...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I keep thinking that one of these days I will stare at it hard enough that I will send a message via my mind and they will make one and send it over to me. I'll keep you posted on how that goes.
My co-worker that sits at the teller line with me is out of town this week. I'm bummed about that because she's pretty much the only physical person I have to talk to. (Dont' worry...I still talk to you guys more) but it is nice to have someone to talk to here. Whenever she takes days off...they drag on and on and on and on.
So last night I went to the pool hall with a buddy of mine...like I do every night. I ended up winning 4 out of 6 games. My buddy is very good, but sometimes I'm just ON! And last night I was ON. Anyway...that's not the point of the story. I was taking a shot and I realized that a guy sitting at the table across from us was staring at me. And...I normally don't particularly care...but this guy was just....creepy you know. I felt like at any moment he could jump over the table and rip my heart right out of my chest and start nibbling on it.... I mean CREEPY! I don't know what I am supposed to do in a situation like that...but I just stood up and scratched my ars. He looked a little shocked...then went to the bar and didn't look my way the rest of the night. *cheesy grin* What? I mean...what would you have done? Dude was CREEPY! hehehe
Happy happy happy anniversary to At Work! And Happy Happy Happy Thursday to all!

As far as decorating... I find that simple is often more elegent. Get a decorating bag with a #3 or 4 tip or if you don't have one - use a ziplock baggie with the tip cut off (very small) And pipe a bunch of squiggles (for added interest make these out of regular chocolate ganache - semisweet choc and cream)... Good luck.

This was the cake I always asked my mom to make me for my birthday; if she wasnt on vacay, I'd ask her how to make it, as I've never tried (trying to cut back on the sweets) Good Luck
