Alright teachers, let's hear it! What are today's parents doing that seems to be driving you nuts? Not all of us are model parents by any means, so give it to us straight.
We will talk about what parents are doing "right" in another blog. This is a space for you to tell it like it is.

When she has a discipline problem in her classroom, the common response was, "Not my baby!"
Another complaint is the total lack of response to progress reports sent home warning the parents of the child's academic challenges all year, and when it's suggested the child be held back a grade the parent complains that they were never informed.

What gets me are the parents that will come to the school during the middle of class and want a conference. This is after ignoring the sign up times for scheduled conferences.
Parents that ignore the no rolling bookbag rule and send their child in with a rolling bag anyway. I list the reason why we do not have a storage place big enough for rolling bookbags. So the rolling bookbags have to sit outside the cubbies blocking the entrance for the other students. In case of a code red or a tornado drill, half of our class is assigned to be in the cubbies.
Keep in mind that I teach second grade, so there's nothing in their bookbags that would cause them to be heavy.
Let me end by saying, I do love my job. I just hate rolling bookbags (for the younger kids).

They (teachers) have to get a 4 year degree to work in a near minimum wage job.
You didn't list what your state job is, so how can you argue that your occupation is in great demand?
Many of the near-by counties have a teacher shortage year after year. How do you expect these counties to recruit and retain quality teachers if they are not adequately paid?
If you don't like your low-paying state job, how about going into the private sector?
You have a job! Quit your complaining!
