mad about movies: blog mad about movies' blog
into the wild
by WilloWSnapperPublished Jul. 13, 2008
Ive read this book tiwce, I never felt bad for the main charachter Alex. He was a selfish person, the kind of selfishness he was trying to escape being ( like his parents ) he gave up everything to go live in the wild of alaska without telling his family or friends.'
But watching the movie and watching as the end of the movie was near, actually watching what he went thru was heartbreaking. I admire him for his courage and independance but his stupidity and arrogance cost him everything.
Watching someone acting out his agony was horrifying and my heart hurt for him.
Cinematography was great, acting was great as well

Although, and this would only be older TV Chris Carter geeks that are aware of it (LOL) there was a "Millennium" episode that dealt with a very similiar situation of a young man leaving the modern world in search of higher enlightenment in the wilds of Alaska. That is a touching episode indeed. It was called "Luminary" and was in Season 2. :)
