Good afternnon GOLO:

Have you ever wondered what kind of e-mails I receive about GOLO? Some of you actively send those e-mails so you may already have a clue. But if you're interested...read on. Some are good, some aren't but it's all feedback that we appreciate a great deal. We do make a point to respond to e-mails and believe it or not, ONE PERSON can make a difference. 

So, if you're interested...read on.

These four are regarding pictures posted with blogs:

"Why do you let stuff like this come across WRAL?  You never used to see stuff like this before.  I am so disappointed in you allowing trash like this to be posted to your site.  Shame shame."

"______s Blog has a photo which I find "pornographic".
It is a young lady with birthday hats over her breasts and a large white bow over her lower region.  She is holding a birthday cake. I clicked the "abuse" button.  This picture needs to go!! Please followup with this post."

"Do you not look at them before they go up?
Several today are close to being very questionable..."

"I don't understand how some of the photos on the blogs are permitted to be posted.  I understand that animals having sexual intercourse is natural.  I would expect to find photos or videos of such on a website such as "Discovery", however, that would be in the context of the animal world, not a sick twist on referring to Wednesday as "hump day".  I will not allow my teen to even look at the news.  He doesn't need to be fed those types of photos, taken out of context and used as a sick joke.  Also, do you have any idea how many people write cuss words simply by inserting a space somewhere in the word?" 

Here's a question about starting a blog: 

Can anyone with a profile start a new blog posting or does it always have to be in reference to a particular article. If so, how does one go about doing that. It doesn't seem that obvious to me. That means it is probably right in front of me and I am just suffering from brain damage :) 

Several comments about "comments."  (I get LOTS of these)

"the comments i make arent posting to the stories but seem to be appearing under my profile history of comments. i didnt think i was being offensive, i was just wondering what was going on?"

"Please tell me why wheh I made a decent comment concerning a very real thing ...about putting a hex on something that it gets deleted? I see that this person I referanced this to also had his comment deleted? I did not call names, was not rude."

"There is a small but vocal rabid, radical right constituency on GOLO, and other readers need to see that there is an alternative viewpoint to them. Sure, my posts can seem harsh at times, but not any worse than theirs".

"I didnt realize my actual name was going to show up on a post I had made, it was certainly not a bad post but I'd rather not have my name shown up. I changed my screename however someone responded with my realhame and I was just wondering if you could please edit the thread and remove my full name. Really appreciated it."

"What is up with this GOLO thing? On certain articles you can make comments and then on some you can't.Also sometimes there are comments on one minute and the next they are gone."

And if it must be that way, then why is "______" not in the same boat?"

"There is someone who continually posts nonsense on all sports articles.  He/She has been shut down, I believe, before.  This person takes the screen name of others and alters it just a bit.  He then tries to portray them.  It ruins every post.  If you look at the current UNC article, you will see what I mean.  Isn't there any way you can control this?  I can't understand why you are allowing it."

Miscellaneous:

I have a 5 inch, portable TV, with a built in antenna.  Will it be obsolete when the changeover to DTV takes effect?urrently, we get only a couple of stations, but when the electricity is out it does give us weather updates, etc.
I haven't been able to find any info on portable tvs.

Regarding the Pet Page:

Good morning! I submitted my picture of my pup ____ and am thrilled to find her on the 'bulletin board' flash this morning. Yet she is not listed in the regular slideshow where she can get votes. I'm hoping we can correct the issue this week. I really would like her to be eligible for the Pet of the Week. If I am not submitting the image properly, please let me know.  

And finally:  

"I think your word filter really sucks. I was trying to post a response to the story of the Eagle and I have a pet bird. She is a Cockatiel and as since I used that word twice, the filter would not let the post go through.
Now please tell me what is so offensive about the word "Cockatiel" when it is describing a small Parrot from Australia. I ran a dictionary check on the word "cock" and it was listed 10 times and neither definition was in the least bit offensive.
But I suppose I'll just get the regular computer response back."

Note: I wrote this person back and we cleared the word Cockatiel.
