Ian−
Man, today was busy. Actually, I’ve been feeling drained, or allowing myself to feel drained, rather. That was wrong of me, because I prayed for favor, and we’ve been receiving it, and there has been incredible generosity from tons of people we’ve met. As I write this, I feel defiance rising in me, a blatant refusal to betray the belief of all the people that have been giving to and praying for us. I’m thinking of all the heroes that died to defend the rights that we are striving to get people to utilize. I have been so selfish. From this point on, I resolve to be a beast of patriotism with claws and jaws of enthusiasm to annihilate this spirit of apathy, apathy of the use of the rights that our warriors bled for. It is not the purpose of my writing to shock anyone, but as my pencil moves over this paper, I’m receiving new revelation of the glorious opportunity that I have, moving unnoticed through my fingers. Now, as I smile at a potential registrant, I will also be baring my teeth against the idea of tyranny; as my hands offer them the pledge to vote, I will be enlisting them as soldiers into the overly clichéd war between god and evil, freedom and oppression. This trip has given us the opportunity to pull our weight or be disappointing. I personally refuse to have anything to do with the latter.
Now I move forward.
We woke up around six and started packing our things. Really, it was mainly me that was milling around, but Itzy was semi-awake. I tried to be quiet, but the door roared (technically, it just kinda scraped, but it was in the same room) everytime I opened it. Breakfast for me consisted of four small bowls of Cheerios, two bagels with cream cheese, and three or four cups of orange juice.
