flies flies flies
Published Jul. 9, 2008How do you keep flies from taking up residence in your outdoor trash cans. I have one of the big 55 Gal. flip top trash cans that is picked up weekly. No matter how careful I am about what I put in it, it gets infested with flys and their disgusting little (gag) maggots. I try to hose out the can once a week and let it dry, but it doesn't help. I'm sure I'm not the only one having this problem. Has anyone found a solution?

Wash out the trash can...they come from the bottom goo. Once clean, Get a fly spray, or clorox, and then cover the trash with a sheet of plastic. Put in trash, and spray a bit. Try to seal the lid. Keep can far from the house. Keep cleaning it out.
Wash out food cans in the sink. compost waste food. separate bags for paper waste and fly fodder.

Wish I could sprinkle some of this humor in my neighbor's yard. I'd never see another fly.
