Contrary to popular belief, we don't typically get a lot of snow in Roxboro. It's become a tradition of area news channels to come up here and hang around at the slightest possibility of white stuff. It's kind of like going to Punxsatawney to see if the groundhog sees his shadow. We've laughed at them for years because it usually doesn't snow. They always show the same stretch of highway on the evening news because it's right in front of the motel where the camera crews stay. Of course we did get a big snow back around 2000 and it looked like New England around here for weeks.
