where would we be????
Published Jul. 6, 2008Reading some blogs lately on the results of the Iraq war which is dwindling into the public eye, I got into deep thought. In the past year on Golo we have had some serious and not so serious debates on the Iraq War. I wish to ask you as I was thinking. Let's theorize. If we had continued to accept the acts of terrorism on us as the previous administration did, where would we be now? Let's say if Bush had ignored the 911 fiasco and we went on about as if nothing happened. Where would America be now? We'd have trillions to spend in other places so what do you picture America's position in the world today.??? Would we have the gas crisis, the immigration problem, the economy problem, the jobs leaving America problem???What would we have done differently in the life of America. Just wondering here?? Would it have gone into education, infrastructor, someone's pockets, or wasteland as so much does? Would we be any better off or would we have been continously attacked ????

Slow down bones I've NEVER siad america is free from attacks. i eaxpected one by now from someone, which hasn't happened. I watch the CNN reports on how bad our ports are and I see how bad our bordaers are. So what this is Bush's fault too??? One thing about it is that evidently they are securer than they were ten years ago.....So what do you thin we would have done with allthat money spent on the war had we not gone?? Would we have spend it on defense border protection, education or squandered it as usually was done when domestic spending stayed high on our list? Just asking???Not a war blog dear...........

The Revolutionary...we would be a part of Canada or they us, and tied tighter to England.
The Civil War...we would be living in the Conferderate States of America, and slavery would have ended as it has elsewhere, without over 600,000 Americans dying, and their descendants living. But, we probably would have sided against the old USA and had a war anyway.
WWI - Had we stayed out of it, remained truly neutral, then I don't know. Europe may have found a peace Germany could live with, and WWII never have happened.
WWII - Had we stayed out, and neutral as pacifists wanted, Japan would not have attacked the US, would have taken over Asia and Australia and still be a military power. China would not have been communist. Mao wouldn't have killed 50 million Chinese. Hitler would have still lost to the USSR, which would have then taken all of EU & England. The US would have been richer by supplying all sides, then communist dominated weaklings.
Korea -
