This question was worded a little weird to me.

Do I support the POA? Absolutely. I'd say it. For sure! Do I think it should be required? No! I do not.

Well, there is a difference between simply reciting it and knowing exactly what it means. Most grade school children are taught the pledge phonetically without being given a lesson as to what the words are all about. I'm sort of apathetic about whether it should be said in schools nowadays or not, but I don't think it should be said everyday just for the sake of saying it.

"Funny how people have a hangup about the Pledge and it's "pre 1954" form, but then they also believe in the "living COnstitution" which has changed along the years to include whichever the way the wind of political correctness seems to be blowing...Just look at the Pledge the same way..It's a "living document" and needed the addition of "One NAtion, Under God"...to make it complete."

I wouldn't really call it a hangup. I was asked for my opinion, as were all the others, and accordingly provided my own opinion. In that opinion, it's a bit of a stretch to require people who don't believe in God, or who believe in a different god or gods than God, to swear an oath of loyalty (which is what the pledge is) that references God when those people are equally citizens and therefore entitled to equal treatment. It's just bad practice in a country that's supposed to be founded on the concept of literal equality for all.

I totally support it. I know that when kids used to say the "Pledge of Allegiance" and pray at the beginning of the class, things were not as bad as they are now. It's ashame that we've let a few people take that away. I know that things change in society, but somethings should never change. We've let others into our country because they wanted freedom and a better way of life, but then we that are born American citizens, have to change things because we are offending them. I will never understand this, if I live to be 100 yrs.old. Come to think of it, some of the ones that were born in American, are guilty, also. Just because they stopped believing in God, they want anything pertaining to God removed from public buildings; schools; etc. It will not be long before they will be trying to have all religious materials (including the Bible) removed from the shelves in stores, and in the privacy of your own home. This country is in a "MESS".

Funny how people have a hangup about the Pledge and it's "pre 1954" form, but then they also believe in the "living COnstitution" which has changed along the years to include whichever the way the wind of political correctness seems to be blowing...Just look at the Pledge the same way..It's a "living document" and needed the addition of "One NAtion, Under God"...to make it complete.

DIDNT get past support

"In it current form? No. In it's pre 1954 form? Sure."

My sentiment as well.

That Mona Lisa is just so funny, cause it is so real.

Again, unless the administrator takes control, it's up to the teacher, because if not done with serious attention and respect, better not said.

Why bother when the teachers don't take it seriously themselves as it is done? That's the way it is in some middle and high schools. What lesson does that teach the kids? Ask any high school student. Flags are supposed to be in every room. I say keep it in the elementary schools, but unless someone takes control of every teacher to see that the pledge is treated with respect as they face the flag, then forget it. It depends on the teacher as it is now, and they are busy in the mornings, some not concerned with the conservative pledge of allegiance.

local, I agree with your comment. It is sad and pathetic these kids cannot start of pledging to their country. I guess the "under God" part is the hangup for the pc adults.
