oops! never mind that last one
Published Jul. 2, 2008John McCain brought out his truth squad to combat the comments made by others concerning his military record. I really think it is absurd that he would have to do this, since there is no doubt about the sacrifices he endured during his time as a POW. The discussion about whether or not that service prepared him to be CIC really adds nothing to the debate and casts an unnecessary shadow over his service.
However, the fact that he turned to a member of the Swift Boat Veterans from 2004 as a member of his Truth Squad is very interesting. McCain had this quote concerning the Swift Boat's attacks in 2004.
"I deplore this kind of politics," McCain told the Associated Press. "I think the ad is dishonest and dishonorable. "
I wonder why, then, he would use a spokesman of that same group in his Truth Squad in 2008. Seems like a strange choice.

He may as well declare: "Hypocricy is the founding principle of my campaign supporters"

Doesn't that just mean he switched sides... or opinons? Isn't that the truth? Why is that bad?

Really? Here is an analysis of Day's efforts in the Swift Boat efforts.
"During the 2004 campaign, he said of Kerry: "My view is he basically will go down in history sometime as the Benedict Arnold of 1971." And after appearing in a national advertisement for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign, Day formed the Vietnam Veterans Legacy Foundation, an extension of the Swift Boat effort. "
Still reaching for legitimate hypocrisy?

I was a member of the softball team, but didn't particpate. Sometimes you can be part of a group... but not part of actions the group takes.
This blog is reaching... find something real to call McCain a hypocrite over and then maybe I'll give it some thought.

i don't know. At all. But seems strange to me to use someone who participated in the same type of character attacks only 4 years earlier to defend yourself from those same type of attacks.
