To recognize the 25th Anniversary of the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) and the 13th Annual National HIV Testing Day, senior management of Raleigh-based Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina (The Alliance)—Jacquelyn Clymore, Executive Director; John Paul Womble, Director of Development and Public Relations; and William Seagroves, Director of Finance—will join NAPWA and other AIDS service agencies in ringing the opening bell for NASDAQ, Friday, June 27 at 9:30 AM (EDT).
A live webcast of the Opening Bell can be viewed at www.nasdaq.com/about/marketsitetowervideo.asx.
NASDAQ is the largest U.S. electronic stock market. With approximately 3,200 companies, it lists more companies and, on average, trades more shares per day than any other U.S. market. It is home to companies that are leaders across all areas of business, including technology, retail, communications, financial services, transportation, media and biotechnology. NASDAQ is the primary market for trading NASDAQ-listed stocks.
NAPWA was founded in 1983 by members of the Patient Advisory Committee of the Second National AIDS Forum, held in Denver, Colorado. NAPWA is the oldest national AIDS organization in the United States, as well as the first network of people living with HIV/AIDS in the world. NAPWA started National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) in 1995. Every year, on June 27, local organizations across the nation engage with communities to promote early diagnosis and HIV-testing.
The Alliance was founded in 1999 after the merger of the AIDS Service Agency of North Carolina, AIDS Service Agency of Orange County and Triangle Interfaith Network and serves over 1100 clients in Wake, Durham and Orange Counties. The Alliance operates two housing and care facilities, provides food bank services, as well as extensive faith ministry, client, prevention, testing and education services across its service area.
