house: closer every minute

OK, so I couldn't stand it.  I had to post this picture.  I wanted to wait until that last little bit was finished around the oval.  That replacement window was supposed to be delivered today and we'd get that last little bit finished, but it didn't show up.  GRRRR!!!!

On a good note, we did have our second framing inspection.  We got dinged again, but just one thing and it's minor.  I went inside to look and can't believe we missed it.  It was one of those "DOH!" moments.  We did get the go ahead for beginning insulation.  WOO HOO!!!!!  After that, it's dry wall!

I've enjoyed the learning process of this project very much.  It's been interesting and we've created some good memories for us and the kids.  We've worked hard to create something that we should ALL be proud of.  But it's been like walking through a tunnel and now I can finally see a small light showing me that we're almost to the end.

Regarding the house;

Looking at wrought iron railings and black shutters.  At the suggestion of Sessy, I'm going to look at batten board shutters.

There will be 2 ceiling fans on the porch and canned lights on either side, flood lights off the front corners and sconces on either side of the door.

We're thinking a dark oak stain on the door.

I'm going to post some old pictures along with some recent to show the progress.  It's kind of shocking to go back and look at pics from the beginning of this.  It sure has changed a lot!

It will be a beautiful home. Sounds like you've put alot of hard into it...

I can remember the day your blog came up about moving the house. That seems forever and again it seems like we just saw that house rolling down the road. I know this will be an unforgettable experience for all the family.

O.M.G. I can't help but think about last summer when you were wheeling it to the new location. It's stunning! -Angela

very very nice,,congrats!

I've edited the original blog to include a link to my image gallery. I've included pictures to show the progress. At times, it seems like ages ago. Then again, it seems like yesterday we watched them cut it in half. In any case, it's been an incredible journey so far.

LOOKING GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow, just saw the before/after shots. what an awesome transformation !!!

Amazing! I remember when that house was being moved! Very nice.

Beth

Thanks for the update. I'll have to read more about it later.
