the benefits of year-round school

Several of the members of our Year-Round Parents Group have been sharing their thoughts on what's good about year-round schooling. I know that many folks deem it disastrous but others say it works just fine for their families and their kids are thriving. Here are some of the comments:
"My kids are in year round school..I dont know what the big complaint is...I love the fact that I dont have to wait for summer to go on a trip."
"As soon as the kids get tired of school, they get a break...as soon as the parents get tired of the kids, they go back to school...LOL"
"I love year-round school. We were able to go to Disney in February and take short trips throughout the year when it is not crowded."
"I've had one kid on traditional track and one kid in year round. We love year round. My youngest dreads going to high school on the traditional track."
"Every 9 weeks or so, you get a chance to intervene if your child is not getting a concept in school. If they have mastered all the subjects, you get time to pursue a topic at a deeper level than was covered in school. It is a win- win situation for leaning - no burn out."
I've mentioned that I too enjoy year-round. I just don't think my track coincides well with specialty summer camps, but maybe that will change in the near future.
Anyone else want to chime in? We'll be discussing "Track-out camps" pretty soon.
