democrats propose the "chavez option"

Published Jun. 18, 2008

I have, on occasion, found myself defending democrats against famly members who have claimed they are socialists.  There is a difference, I would claim, between liberals and socialists.

But, first there was socialized medicine.

And now this:  The demcorats have begun to come out and openly call for the nationalization of the oil industry.

 I guess I was wrong.

First Mxaine Waters called for it during the oil executive hearings.  Now more of them are openly admitting they want to impose Marxist ideas on us.

Now her insanity has spread to other democrats:

http://www.foxnews.com/urgent_queue/index.html#a54ef44,2008-06-18

"House Democrats responded to President's Bush's call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.

Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply."

The fact that this has never worked, of course, will not deter them in the slightest.  It isn't about whether or not it works.  It's about power.

whatelseisnew: While the bike idea is a great one, think of how it would NOT work for millions of us in this suburbanized society we live in today. I personally work 35 miles from home. As much as I love to bike, that's a LONG bike ride, plus I'm 65 yrs old. I can grocery shop during the day when at work, but then I have the problem of transporting the groceries home, if I'm on a bike.

A solution for me would be to move closer to work, but with the housing market tanking, it's not a very good time to sell or downsize as retirement looms. And, with dramatically-rising prices, I have to keep working. Retirement, as a dream, keeps receding from sight. So, probably like millions of others, I'm stuck.

As for this blog in general, there have always been lots of wild ideas floating in Congress & from those who are supposed to be "leading" this nation and "representing" US. From my perspective, LOTS of talk & NO action. I've been voting against incumbents for years.

I caught a bit on CNN they were reading some emails from people commenting on the Bush talk about drilling. One guy wrote in that we should all get off our lazy b tts and ride a bicycle. I got to thinking about this. While that would work for us to get to work and back and grocery shopping, how would it work in getting product delivered to the Supermarkets, so we could go there to buy food? I envision an unending line of people pedaling from the food distributors to the stores; their bikes laden down with merchandise. Then it hit me; this also provides full employment. Keeps people fit and trim reducing health care costs. Hopefully some of their bikes would be made in America and that provides jobs as well. Seems like a winning solution to me. And it does not require us to worry about any kind of energy.

Maurice Hincheley (sp) Democrat from the NY has also proposed this. He's the genius that put forth the idea that Karl Rove planted the documents from Rathergate - another genius democrat

Seems to me that the fastest way for us to make the energy situation worse is to have the squabbling children in congress control it. Besides Lord Cheney would never permit it.

I saw a couple of Dems on c-span today talking about doing this...of course, this was the day after they shot down the expansion of an EXISTING refinery (cause Sierra Club told them to)

One more step toward communism.

In this election its politicians win, people lose.

SOB - Again: MAXINE IS NOT ALONE IN THIS!

yeah, Maxine is nuts. But, then again, the GOP still has Jean Schmidt.

The universe does have a way of staying in balance.

no bones, more of them are saying it. That's the point.

maxine waters....so we have come to this? quoting the known insane.
