best ice cream you ever put your lips around !!
Published Jun. 16, 2008Ice cream is my weakness ! so you can imagine I've tried all kinds and all flavors...This is the best home made base recipe I've ever tried and the easiest. It uses NO eggs and for me that's a big deal...Hope y'all like it....Stella
3 cans sweetened condensed milk...I like Eagle Brand
3 qts half and half
3 tblsp vanilla...I like to use a little less for my taste
3 long pkgs butterfingers crushed kinda small...I save some out
for topping
That's it. It make a 4qt freezer....is super YUMMY, and so good on these hot days. you can use something other than butterfinger, but the base ice cream mixture stays the same...great with fresh strawberries, another personal fav !
let me know what y'all think...HAPPY SUMMER !
Stella

The other flavors they have up there are super delish tho, and VERY inexpensive. They are even open late, which you wouldnt expect from a little shack on the side of the road.

All those mills just off Franklin St. were NormanJean'd and are probably closed now, but that ice cream helped many a work hand get through the day so they could eat at Tony's.
Gastonia is the only place I've been where Main St. is a dead end on both ends. The first time I ate Shoneys, Hardees, or McDonalds was in Gastonia...and I rue the day I gained that taste to compete with a real plate of food.

Add two eggs and it won't melt fast in the heat, and homemade is best when even in nature's weather, but in the shade.
Add three eggs and you can lay brick with the resulting concrete.
