stimulus check update
Published Jun. 16, 2008For those who didnt know. Well I am late in posting things lately anyway, and not been reading many posts as it is. If you already know, then sorry..if not then hope it helps.
For some taxpayers, a second stimulus payment will not be a mistake: The IRS will be mailing out about 350,000 additional checks starting in July to taxpayers whose original stimulus payment did not include a payment for their eligible child.
"In some instances, taxpayers did not check the proper box to trigger the $300 child payment. In other instances, a few tax software products primarily used by tax professionals did not capture the proper information needed for issuing the child stimulus payment," the tax agency said.
"To fix the problem, the IRS is taking extra steps to identify the affected taxpayers and send them separate checks to cover their qualifying children. The IRS emphasized that the corrected checks will be mailed automatically, and taxpayers don't need to call or take any additional steps," the statement said.

so i guess we dont need to take any action on our part? just sit back and let the IRS figure it out and send out a second check? or do we need to notify them?

What a great idea for the 50 million though, give it to the teens,,the 17 yr olds, and let them spend it. You know they will. Or better yet,,,send each taxpaying citizen a $50 gas card

I'm still angry that because my daughter was 17 at the time of taxes - we still claim her as a dependent living at home - but can't claim tax credit. She works - made almost $5,000 last year.
She doesn't get anything. We don't get the stimulus for her because she's too old to claim, but she doesn't get anything because we do claim her as a dependent. >.< How stupid is that?!? She'd have been happy to stimulate the economy with $300. she'd have spent it so fast I wouldn't have even known she had it till she came home with bags.
