some questions & answers about golo groups

Good evening GOLO:
I've noticed a lot of questions floating around about Groups today so I will try to answer some of the most pressing in the space below. I know that more will come up and we will continue to work to make this as easy as possible. Okay, here we go:
Q: Why is my group blog showing up in the "most recent?" I thought it would stay within my group.
A: Your blogposts will show up in most recent if your group is public. The only way to keep your blogposts within your group is to select "Make this group viewable only to members."
-OR- To select "Make this blog post viewable only to group members", when you create your blogpost.
If your group is set to members only, non members will see this message when they try to view your group: "______'s profile can only be viewed by ______'s members."
Q: How do I make someone an editor?
A: You need to select the "manage group members" tab on the group profile page. You will see a list of current members at the top.
Click the icon to the left of the members name. A small box will open that allows you to upgrade that member. The three choices will be:
- assign as editor (editors can
- assign as admin
- remove from group
See "group permissions" at the bottom of the Groups help page for details on members, editors and admin.
Note: A member must at least be an editor in order to post blogs.
Q: Is there a way to view all groups and not just the most recent ones?
A: There will be soon.
Q: Explain the group settings:
- Publicly viewable:
- Anyone (members and non-members) can view the group and all of it's content.
- Members only:
- Only group members can view the group and it's content.
- Hidden:
- No one except the owner can view the group or it's content.
Another thing to remember:
**Note: Non-group members will be able to view and comment on the group content unless the group is set to "members only."
Q: How do I request to be a member of another group?
A: That depends on the setting of the group.
If a groups membership is by application, there will be a link to contact the owner of the group.
If it is by invitation, you can request an invite.
If it is by application, you will be able to contact the owner.
If it is open, you will see the "Join" link of the groups profile page.
I hope some of this helps.
Angela
