trash and extreme heat

I came home for lunch today and nearly gagged.  Everyone had their trash out, AND the garbage truck was making it's way through collecting it all.  Trash that has been sitting out for days in 100 degree temps is HORRIBLE!!  I had a new level of respect for the men and women that do that job.  I don't think I could stomach it!!  Sure made me think twice about what I put in there during the week!

I always appreciate anyone that works. I had a job on a trash truck when I was 18 but it wasn't my worst job. I've come along way by hard work and notice people all the time whether they're in fast food, ditch digging or a what some would call a 'cushy' job, it's all about their own pride. BTW... The guys on the trash truck don't have it that bad, it smells at fishing docks too, it's a job.

I always appreciate and respect those who do the jobs that not many others would want. It truly takes effort from EVERYone to make the world go 'round!

Those guys hangin' on to the back of trash trucks earn every freakin' penny they're paid. It's a thankless job, with a lot of thoughtless "customers" on every route.

Nandud, that was so nice of you!! I'll admit, I'd have to shout it to them from down the street, I don't know how they do it.

Whatelse, WOW! I commend you!! I truly couldn't do it. My stomach is entirely too weak for a job like that!!

A long time ago, I filled in for a friend for two days working a garbage truck. I learned for sure that I did not want to do that job for a living. This was the old style trucks where you rode the back of the truck and emptied the cans into the back of the truck. Let me tell ya, picking up the waste from the restaurants was especially nasty. My friend did that job for a couple of years.

I actually stopped and thanked one of the garbage truck drivers here in Apex once. He looked at me like I was crazy. Then I told him I would never be able to do his job, and he smiled, and said "Thanks. We don't hear that very much from people." Hats off. I couldn't do it.

Today of all days, I forgot to take my trash out to the driveway. I haven't forgotten to do that for a few years now. And now with this stinking heat we've had I totally forgot my trash can. Cwap!! I remembered around 7:30am and it was too late. My garbarge man runs around 5:30am. So my choice is either to live, (gag) with this for another week in my yard, or haul it in my van (super gag), to the dump.

I think what is even worse is I think scent rises like smoke. LOL I live on second floor and I literally keep all doors and windows closed...........Some days if I go out on the eck i this 100 degree heat you can get a whiff and lordy mercy........whew/.............
