what are your thoughts so far on vista?

How many of you have upgraded to Vista?  We have only moved a few of our customers over, we are holding out as long as we can.  We have moved over internally, and I'm on the fence.  As time goes on, I am enjoying some of the new features, but there are some kinks to iron out. I have had to upgrade my memory twice.

Just thought I would see what others were experiencing.

A Mac wanna be was my fist impression. We're staying firm on XP until we're forced to upgrade. Basically when MS stops fixing all of their security flaws in XP.

I have vista on my desktop and xp on my laptop. Vista came pre-installed so it actually works fine. I've had a few bad experiences with vista back when it was it was still under the codename longhorn. So I was kinda weiry at first. But I think if you get pre-installed its fine. The so called upgrade dvds don't work as good though.

I don't blame you Yogi. That is what we have recommended. We have been running it here so that we can face the problems before our customers do. I attended a Microsoft event last month and they aren't budging it seems. They are going to make a lot of people unhappy. They were very excited to share all of their great plans with us, and I wasn't happy with any of them. But that isn't surprising with Microsoft, they tend to get much more excited than their customers.

Vista is on my daughters laptop. Haven't had too many problems. Some random stuff, but on the whole, no problems that seem to make me want to hate it like the ME op system.

I don't have plans anytime soon of changing over to Vista. There are still to many flaws. Most of the customers I deal with that have changed over, are regretting it. Even with products that say they are Vista compatible, there are too many code 10 and code 2 errors.

If you want XP, you can purchase a driver free "lite" version called XP Lite. I use that and it works GREAT! You can install it from www.litepc.com/

What I can't understand is why fix something that technigally is broken? I don't think I have seen a major revamp of their pc OS since Win95. I mean each since has had some minor changes in the view and security( which the average person doesn't even notice) but when you try and navigate through vista it can get frustrating for someone that is not very tech savvy trying to do the most basic function.

Chris- Have you had a chance to see Server07 yet? I'm still pretty satisfied with 03 in an AD environment.

I have vista on one of my workstations, I kinda like it.

I hate how resource hoggy Vista is. That is something I've noticed.

Have either of you used Lynux? We just rebuilt a new PC for the hubby, so we're thinking of taking the old parts and building a new machine to toy around with Lynux.

I've also heard there are programs that will alow you use Lynux as a base operating system, then run "windows" inside it so that you can operate programs that require Windows.
