Finally going to move into the 21st century and get a big screen HDTV. I've held out as long as I could. But I'm not really up on what is best. I know there are some experts out there. Here is my criteria so far. At least a 47 inch screen, 1080 resolution, and not over about $1,400. OK let me have it.

I will also tell you that is was one of the most confusing process I have ever been through...LCD vs Plasma, 1080 vs 720, 60 mh vs 120, 3 inputs vs 4, etc, etc, etc.
I finally just went with the one that I looked at and felt looked best. I finally decided that no matter which one I purchased, it was going to be better than what I had. Comparing them side by side in the store was tough.
good luck.

2) If you don't like the TV when you get it home, return it within 90 days and buy another one.
3) There is no step 3.

We're probably one of the very few folks that downgraded their screen size -- I had a Sony 57" projection set that's about 5 years old and it was burning in and not looking as crisp as it once was.
The Panasonic makes the Sony look like a Low-Def TV. And when you put a BluRay on and kick it into 1080p (Cable and Sat are 1080i at best) it's simply awesome.
