Published Jun. 2, 2008I actually feel a visceral reaction to people I see at the pump that are only putting in one or two dollars worth of gas.I am not a bleeding heart. I am aware that most waste their money on meainingless things. This blog is for those who aren't wasteful, but those who are paycheck to paycheck. I thank my lucky stars everyday that I am fortunate enough not to have to be one of them. Put yourself in someone else's shoes for a minute. Payday isn't until Friday and you're hoping like hell that your gas tank will stretch until then. Then, it doesn't. Instead of blogging about what idiots they are, how about blog about how fortunate you are!

Since I'm the only one who has posted a blog about the people running out of gas because they're not filling up their tanks, I'm gonna assume this was your way of saying that you think I'm being a jerk.
I'm not.
I'm a single parent. I have 3 kids, one of which is about to graduate from high school next weekend.
My ex husband pays me NO child support, and I've been in college forever, so I can make a decent living and support my family.
I will probably be in debt forever, paying off student loans.
I sold my SUV and bought a small, fuel-efficient car... 2 weeks ago, actually.
I have a house and a mortgage, and I've got a little money in the bank, but I'm not loaded. I'd say I'm about a paycheck away from living paycheck to paycheck, unless I dip into my meager savings, or crack into my retirement money.
My point (I have one) is that people have GOT to figure out ways to economize. It's crazy to drive around on fumes.
We all do whatever we must to make ends meet.
