god calling
Published Jun. 2, 2008Tarheel's blog and other comments about God got me thinking about something that happened to me about 2 years ago. I swear (to God) that this is a true story.
I didn't grow up going to church and I don't have enough education about the subject to defend my opinions. I have been loosely associated with an Episcopal church all of my life. I regularly attended a chapel service with my class as the teacher, but I didn't go to Sunday worship.
So, we move to a different state. I figure it might be a good time to see about getting involved in a church. So, one Saturday, I passed one of those "the Episcopal Church welcomes you" signs. I had passed it many times before, but since I was seriously considering looking for a church, I decided to go check it out and see where it was located and what it looked like on the outside. I only drove past it. Later that night, I started researching local Episcopal churched. We live between 3 main communities, so one is as close as the other. Anyway, I went on their web sight and checked out a couple of churched, specifically the church I had driven past. I decided that, hmmm, we might get around to going to this one. Then I checked my email and a few other sites and was ready to log off when the phone rang. It was about 9:30pm and I was curious as to who could be calling that late. I checked the caller ID and it said the name of the church I had just been researching and had driven by. I'm not kidding. got chills? I did. Anyway, it was someone from the church (I assume) but she had the wrong number.
So, what are your thoughts on this little coincident?

Have you seen the letter from einstein that surfaced recently? He dismissed beleif as a product of human weakness, and called the bible "childish". Here's a story about it:
