allergies
Published May. 29, 2008Went to doctor yesterday, upper teeth hurt and have a constant headache, and vertigo. Doctor told me it was allergies and to take Clariton. I took Clariton and helped for about an hour. Any suggestions? Excederin and Motrin are not working for headache and teeth.

I tried to get my mother to take it for a month or two in order to see if her liver would fall our or her eyes explode. She said no. Imagine. My own mother not caring enough about me to test a new medication just to make sure it won't harm me. What's this world coming to?

I stay away from inhaled steroids like Flovent or those which you shove up your nose like Rhinocort. They do get absorbed and can affect your adrenal axis. You have to be careful with them. I prefer just to avoid any problems and not use them, but they work well for a lot of people.

This year, however, I got out of the pollen by going to the islands and breathing fresh sea air for a week while still taking my medicines. That really helped a lot too, but it is of course very expensive "treatment."

And as to the allergies. They are not always limited to watery eyes, runny nose, and scratchy throat. Allergies can manifest themselves in all sorts of ways. Mine are two pronged.
First are the sinus involvement with middle ear stuff that causes face and teeth pain along with dizzyness.
But second is the whole body, "let's kill this sucker" attack. My lungs explode. My joints ache. I get very weak, though without losing muscle strength. I can run a fever of between 99 and 100. And I feel like I'm gonna die.
When it gets that bad, I go on Allegra AND Zyrtec (they have slightly different actions,) prednisone, an antibiotic as a preventative, Entex PSE decongestant, and start hitting the Xopanex like it is salt water. Not pretty. Not pretty at all.
