The "OTHER" story

So, in lieu of a specific blog this morning, it got me thinking...

I've seen many blogs on here were people are bashing fat people. "How disgusting fat people are", "how pathetic fat people are", "If only they would..."....

GA Tech even tried to make his judgements be "ok" by giving medical facts.

You know what I never see with these exact same people complain or talk about?

The opposite of obesity... anorexia or bulimics.

You say Fat people are disgusting?? You clearly haven't opened your eyes to everything around you.

And just so I can stay in sync with Ga Tech's moral justification for making it ok to say fat people are disgusting because they are a blight on society because of their medical issues.....  here is some interesting information:

People with bulimia nervosa often feel a lack of control during their eating binges (hmmm just like the fat people you blame do?!!)

People with bulimia can severly damage their bodies from purging:

  • Electrolyte imbalaces
  • dehydration
  •  stomach ruptures
  •  heart failure
  •  loss of major vitamins causing defeciences that can lead to other sickness
  •  mental disorders
  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing
  • Inability to regulate moods
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Osteoporosis (at young ages)
  • Broken bones
  • Stunted growth
  • Thyroid abnormalities
  • Impaired body temperature (inability to regulate)
  • Tooth enamel erosion, loss of teeth and/ or gum disease
  • Erosion of digestive linings from mouth to intestines
  • Rupture of the espohagus
  • Gastric rupture
  • Slow/ Irregular pulse
  • Heart arrhythmias

For Anorexics:

  • Irregular heart beat
  • Kidney damage
  • Renal failure
  • Liver damage
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Permanent loss of bone mass
  • Fractures - life long problems caused by fragile bones and joines
  • Osteopenia, osteoporosis
  • Destruction of teeth
  • Infertility
  • Delayed growth and permanently stunting growth due to under-nutrition
  • Weakened immune system
  • Anemia - disruption of body's fluid/ mineral balance)
  • Fainting spells
  • seizures
  • sleep disruption
  • low blood sugar
  • Anal and bladder incontinence
  • Urinary tract infections

You think any of that cost a pretty penny at the doctor office or require many doctor visits?

You never know, the next thin girl you kiss may have gum disease or rotting teeth from the back from this! Especially since this plagues MANY of our youth today.

So I have to ask you, what is the difference. You make fun of fat people and talk about them like they are inhuman or deserve nothing. Why do you not make fun of these groups? Do you see them differently somehow? Is one ok while one is not? Or is it because "thin" is ok. We look past the other parts?

GA Tech specifcally called out the medical blight of the fat generation. What about this group? Are they not an issue as well? What makes the difference?

WHAT all of you failed to realize in your judgements is that all of these people - including overweight people, have eating disorders.  While some people eat to hide, some people don't eat to hide. What part of that is a problem for you. All of them need help and support....  not stupidity and ridicule.

You never ever know what a person has gone through or experienced and what has made them the way they are.

What made you such a jerk (if you are one?).. what did you experience? Does it justify your current behaviors?

Why are you so calous or insincere? should we judge you on it? Should we just say it is how you are and you are a blight and no benefit to society since you can't give anything to it? Or should we try and understand why you are the way you are and let you be?

In our ever changing materialistic judgemental society, you never know who will be the next victim. It could be all the people with red hair because red hair is a sign of a deficiency of pigmentation. Should we target them next?

Seriously....  start helping people or make a contribution to society... stop hindering it.
