question

Published May. 22, 2008

So alot of you read the blog about my BIL who contracted MRSA from a barber shop http://wral.com/golo/blogpost/2925604/.  As I said, my sister and my BIL are very passive people. I just asked her what, if anything, they were going to do. She asked my opinion on what I would do. I tend to be quite aggressive when It comes to situations like this so I'm gonna ask ya'll...

What would you do if you contracted MRSA or something similiar from an establishment like this.  Would you sue? Would you complain? Would you forget about it?  Just curious.

At work, that is some nasty stuff.

TheTapinator- putting anything as soon as it happens is not going to help it. You just have to keep it clean and covered to prevent it, but if your in a hospital you should have it on your skin before you ever get cut than you get cut a bam you got it. The worst part is mrsa is hard to treat because it is resistant to everything.

The question is would putting an antiseptic on the wound immediately prevented the infection? I don't know, but if it could have, I would inform the shop so that they would be prepared to treat cuts.

My hairdresser hasn't ever cut me, but she cuts herself all of the time, almost ridiculously so to the point she always has bandaids on her fingers.

If BIL works in a hospital it's unlikely he contracted it at a barber shop. Hospitals are fat with MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) They say if you stay in a hospital long enough you're going to get it.

bless, go take 'em out! dumbazzes! lol

I would let the establishment know that this has happened. (in hopes that they will be more careful) But, I would NOT try to sue, or run down the business.

jarbrn- I agree my mom has it from her back surgery and they told us the same thing you carry it on your skin and if you have an open sore it can get it. If a patient has it in the hospital the people that come in contact have to dress out. So with him working in the hospital it is likley the cut just got infected but the mrsa came from the hospital.

I make my girls carry Germ X with them...whenever they go to a different classroom desk, touch door knob, etc they are told to use it...we keep a bigger bottle at home so they can keep refilling theirs. You can catch MRSA anywhere at anytime. Hospitals seem to be the biggest places. When you have an open wound keep covered so you do not get it or spread it.

lol sorry kewlmom I was just bored and trying to spark an argument

Be able to prove it, for the business named could sue for liable an dyou will have to.
