headlong - a special plea to all goloers
Published May. 20, 2008I know I made a promise to keep Headlong profile out of this BUT I think it is about time I did with All my wonderful Friends here. And only a little over 3 weeks until they start their Run.
Some of you may know but I have been very involved with a group of really wonderful Teenagers and a couple Teachers who are doing something amazing this Summer. They are running 48 States...it is a 2 month long trip. They are just 15 and 16 year olds...to young to vote but strong enough to make their voices heard. They want your voices heard as well as every voice heard. One of the Runners is my daughter Stephanie who as many of you know is very wonderful in Cross Country, Track, and Karate. And you that know her knows is very dedicated in all she sets her mind to do. I have worked closely with this group trying to get the message out there of what they are doing. Stephanie and I were responsible for covering 4 States in which we have had some really wonderful outpouring messages from State Officials.
Now my Plea - being over 7000 GOLOers if each and every one donated $1 to this group of Teenagers trying to do something positive what a wonderful start that would give them. It would show them that some in North Carolina does believe in them and support them. These 2 Teachers are giving up their Summer vacation to take these Teenagers around the United States. They will be taught a valuable lesson along the way plus see much of what makes the United States what it is.

They will be happy to answer any and all questions. Just send their website to your Family and Friends and help spread the word...that would be a great help.
One question by Yogi the other night...Can a "age hidden" year old man join them in running. One of the Runners said Yes you can take his 30 plus miles a day.
They are going to keep a daily diary on GOLO for all of you to share the experience in. Lots of pictures will be Posted of where they are and who they met. It should be a very exciting adventure not just for them but for us at home supporting and cheering them on!!!

I visited the site and I'll donate when I get home this afternoon. I also passed it on to some co-workers and I'll be sending it out to my personal email buddies that range anywhere from NC to Nebraska to New Mexico.
