where has this kind of talk been for the past 7 years?
Published May. 17, 2008"Our problem in America gets solved when we aggressively go for domestic exploration. Our problem in America gets solved if we expand our refining capacity, promote nuclear energy and continue our strategy for the advancing of alternative energies as well as conservation."
"One interesting thing about American politics these days is those who are screaming the loudest for increased production from Saudi Arabia are the very same people who are fighting the fiercest against domestic exploration, against the development of nuclear power and against expanding refining capacity." - George W. Bush 5/16/08
If he had been saying this stuff 7 years ago, gas would still be a buck fifty a gallon.
Good God, this guy is a disappointment . . .

If one were interested in news and opinions of drilling and how Alaskans (and big oil) feel about ANWR and other petroleum issues, check out the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner...our daily paper. The editorial staff there are out to lunch, but one can see opinions of many Alaskans and how we feel about the oil in our ground.
Hope all my GoLo friends are doing well....I am off tomorrow for my summer in the bush and fighting fires. Best Wishes to all of you!!

The thrust of the article was that the gold in your wedding ring most likely includes gold that was plundered from an egyptian tomb.
Oh, and I checked you web site. I don't give a lot of credibility to the opinions (which is what they were) of a site that has an entire section dedicated to American "Imperialism".

Not really. I remember reading somewhere that if every vehicle on the highways were converted to electric, oil demand would be right back where it is today within 5 years.
...I'll take the price of gas as it was 5 years ago. Plus, how much interest occurs in 5 years ?

How much oil lies in the ground ? How much gold lies in the ground ? Both are very limited and both are priced by market driven speculation.

That is the key difference between (i.e.) the Reagan admin and this one. Reagan would not have let that happen. He would have had his Sec of State, Sec of the Interior, Sec of Energy and his VP sitting in the studios of every major news netwrok every sunday for the next 6 months until the dems relented and did the right thing.
As with his Iraq policy, Bush seems terrified to engage the democrats in a debate - even when it is one which is a no-brainer.
His "new tone" garbage has ruin the party and put us in this fix.
We need a leader who will fight for principles. And now, instead of that, we are nominating a candidate who is only willing to fight for principles when it's against his own party.
*sigh*
I sure wish bones would have ponied up a couple of those percocets.

"...if mass production of hybred and hydrogen fuels transportation occured here in the U.S., the prices on the futures markets would drop like a rock."
Not really. I remember reading somewhere that if every vehicle on the highways were converted to electric, oil demand would be right back where it is today within 5 years.
Besides, it would do nothing to curb GLOBAL demand, which is having a far greater impact on prices than our own relatively modest increases (as a percentage of GDP).
