I am extremely happy for her and De Rossi. You go girls! Happiness is key. Very few people are lucky enough to ever find that kind of longing to be with one person for the rest of their life. BEST WISHES to the couple!

You'd be surprised what gets on a ballot. That said, the opinion of the California AG at that time was that the initiative wasn't in conflict with the Constitution. The courts can't act to prevent proposed legislation from being considered. Such is the prerogative of the legislature. Similarly, they can't act sua sponte to reject legislation of their own accord. The matter must be presented to them in due course as a matter of law, which it was.

They've basically said "what you voted into law is unconstitutional." Nobody may enact legislation that violates a constitution, regardless of how right they feel their purpose to be.
Until (and if) their constitution is amended, that's just the way it is.

Good luck with that. The latest polling has support for such an amendment sitting around 37%. You'll have to do better than that.
