In an effort to contribute more to GOLO I was trying to find a suitable blog topic that I could write on a regular basis that was informative and valueable when all of the sudden it hit me.. well almost hit me! On a daily basis I ALWAYS see people doing some stupid things! So I figured what they heck! We have people that list missing people, we have people that list recipes, we have people that list jokes, and we have people that just write blogs about how they are being mistreated by other members.. So presenting to you..
The Meeker Award!
Ok this is how it works. From now on everyday I will list a new Meeker award recipient, and at the end of the week I will announce the week's "Top Choice"!
The very first Meeker Award Recipient -
I was driving down US 64 on the way home yesterday when I noticed this Blue VW Jetta in front of me. I noticed the car drift from line to line and eventually run onto the shoulder a few times all while I am thinking "must be a drunk". As I approach closer I see alot of movement in the car,(mind you we are driving 75 mph). There is an elderly female leaning over the passenger seat looking into the rear seat of the Jetta like they have dropped something. After nearly side swiping a truck she quickly did the safe thing and turned around, only so the DRIVER could then turn and look into the back seat!! The driver was a female in her 30's with blonde hair. I notice they both were digging in the back seat so I kept my distance because this was a time bomb waiting to happen! I also noticed that the female driver had a cell phone stuck to her ear as well, and she was holding it with one hand, reaching into the back seat with the other hand, and driving with her knees I guess?? Well I finally got the nerve to pass them as they both seemed to settle down in their seats after 5 miles on interstate speeds so I looked into the back seat of the car as I passed I saw.....
A child seat with a precious baby sitting inside the seat...
So the very first person to win this award goes to the Blue Jetta Driver and her Passenger. If you see a blonde driving a blue VW Jetta with NC plates dont pass on the right,lol.
Thanks for the Suggestion Steve, Great idea! We will use the Meeker Award to help honor those on the lower end of the IQ scale! One little twist to this now that Steve has kindly suggested The Meeker Award name, The weekly award that goes out to the weeks most outrageous will be the "Nifong Award"!

But Darwin is already in use. Might I suggest something more local in flavor. A term that infers an action so inanely stupid that it is amazing that the person actually has enough brain cells to allow for basic human functions like respiration or a pulse. And it has to be an action that is intentional, done with forethought, and not just a chance accident. That way, one can properly guage the abject stupidity of the one committing the act in the context of them actually thinking the event was a good idea at the time.
I suggest we call it the Meeker Award.
