has any one ever been a foster parent ?

How do you stay strong when you give them back?  One of my babies is leaving me in June. I am so very very happy for him and his mommy. And I know that he will always be a part of my life, and I can go see him, or talk to him when ever. But I know that he will be taking a peice of my heart with him when he goes. And I am very sad by the fact that I know that his life, and education will not be near as good as it would be if he stayed.

Yes I was a foster parent and I raised my foster son as my son and it hurts when they leave. Just know that you did a good job with him and whatever goodness you instilled in him is a part of God's doing. He still calls me dad and he is married to a good woman and has children who I have to babysit ALOT!!!

I've always wanted to be a foster parent. I can handle it because I was a teacher assistant for 11 years and I did get attached to my children in my class and was very sad on the last day of school but I got through it. Can someone please let me know how to become one and who to contact concerning the classes.

icdiad... You are so right. She has been calling me 3-5 times a week for the past 8 months just falling to peices. I know how bad she wanted to be with her baby. I know that she will give him lots of love and attn. I am very happy for them.

Just know that you did your best, but if your friend is a good mother, he will be fine, even if he is back in his mother's country. I am sure she is missing him something awful!

I never was capable of loving another person's child like I would my own.Knowing this has kept me out of the business...LOL I can only truly love what I have given birth too.Don't hate on me,atleast I KNOW,I am not capable.

My friend's parents fostered three young siblings. They were mentally abused and had a bad attitude towards life. Within a few months they were the nicest group of kids! Now they finally decided to adopt them. Its amazing what foster parents can do!!

Yes it is so hard to give them back. I had a foster child for about a year and half. He was older (14). One of the hardest things i ever had to do was give him back knowing he wasnt going to be cared for. I fought as hard as I could to keep him but his bilogical was wanting him back. i still get to talk with him all the time. Hes 17 now. He dad took him a few states away and dropped him off with friends. The system does suck. But he will always know that i love him and he is always welcomed back with open arms.
