for all the cat lovers...
Published May. 12, 2008Frontline plus is expensive. Here is what they dont tell you. The frontline you use for large dogs is the same as the frontline you use for cats. Here is what i do. I have two large dogs...i get a package of frontline for large dogs off ebay....last time...i got 4 tubes (6.25 ml) used two of them for dogs....and opened one of them....cats take .5 ml..which is the same as 1/8 teaspoon. i cut the end off at the very top and measure the dose for each cat ..then tape the top shut...and stand it upright in a cup with the measuring spoon. I just leave the spoon to use in the future..if you dont have a small enough cup just fill the cup with stuff...paper towel and tape across it..to keep the tube standing.
one tube of 6.25 ml for dogs...will do...13 doses for cats...beats paying major bucks for a box of cat tubes.

In looking at the website provided by Elcid, it seems I can buy a 3-month supply of Frontline Plus (for fleas and ticks) for my dog in say the 89-132 lb. range for only $36.99, plus shipping. But since my dog doesn't weigh that much, but only about 25-30 lbs., I'll have to see what dosage she needs from the total amount as well as the .5 ml for each of my 3 cats, and separate out the amounts each time. Your ideas on keeping the excess liquid safe & intact are welcome too. A little extra effort to save a TON of money.
In reading the comments here, I decided the spray will not work for me either with 3 cats, so may as well go with the tubes format of Frontline, which I've used for years, but with increasing expense too.

If you use spray on your cat(s), wear body armor.

The other is a whole lot easier to apply though, pop the top and put inbetween the shoulder blades on the skin. With the spray you have to coat the entire animal until damp. I use Frontline Plus also, but I do order it online because my vet does not carry the Plus, he just carries the regular Frontline.

I had a cat take down the whole shower curtain and rod back in the days we had to do flea shampoos in the tub. I was happy when Frontline came out.
