gas prices knock bicycle sales, repairs into higher gear

Four-dollar-a-gallon gas is good for business - if you run a bike shop. Commuters around the country are dusting off their old two-wheelers - or buying new ones - to cope with rising fuel prices, bicycle dealers say.
WE SHOULD HAVE "RIDE TO WORK MONTH OR EVEN YEAR"!!!! Get out of your car coffin and ride your bike folks, it is good for you! You won't BELIEVE how much better you will feel!!

Now I've got a great job at a new place, no dress code. But I'd have to ride just as far on roads with speed limits of 45-55mph and no sidewalks.
$4/gal for a year is cheaper than 1 hospital visit from an inevitable bump. Give me bike/foot lanes segregated from motor traffic (Europe figured this out years ago), or give me my pseudo-armor on 4 wheels.
