feds: colleges can enroll illegal immigrants

Published May. 11, 2008

North Carolina's community colleges can decide whether they want to enroll illegal immigrants, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said Friday. Unbelievable does not even begin to describe the stupidity of the federal and for that matter state officials to allow this to happen. Everyday in this country there are men and women in uniform protecting our borders from illegal entry into this country. What in the world are they there for if the government is going to allow them to get a free education. Let the borders open up now and stop spending money for border patrol and law enforcement to patrol our streets. Anarchy reigns amongst our own government officials. They are so busy kissing butts for votes thatthey do not care they are screwing the LEGAL itizens over health care costs, education and jobs. I have no problem with people coming to America for a better way of life. I have been here all my life and to other countries while serving in the Army. I can 't get no where near the health care assistance or education assistance that illegal immigrants get. This is why the American people have little faith in our elected officials and talk so bad about our government. THEY SUCK. Obama,Hillary and McCain think they can make all these changes in our country....Please give us a break. Congress runs the show NOT THE PRESIDENT. Yes the president can veto congress, But they can over ride his veto. This is another example of the fed and state government sticking it to the working citizens of this state in order to pad their pocket. What really should happen is everyone regardless of race, gender or status veto the governor's office and stand firm on this issue. Thank God that Easley is on his way out he has really shafted the voters, glad i didnt vote for that sorry jerk.

While I also disagree with the Feds' policy on this, the problem is that the U.S. hasn't decided what to do with illegal immigrants in general. If we addressed that problem first, it would probably be a lot easier to see how to deal with the college issue.

We are getting closer and closer to anarchy. You are seeing it more and more each day. Having Government officials flaunt the law does not help. By the way the out-of-state tuition does not cover the full cost of having a student attend the school. I know one thing, any bonds having anything to do with education I am voting against. I do not want anymore schools built to house illegals.

Not that this will make you any happier, but students who are illegal are required to pay out-of-state tuition -- they do not receive free education unless they received scholarships.

If businesses are responsible to check status, why not schools? Both are dangling the bait!

Cops Eye's.... I agree, it's kind of like dangling a Rib Eye Steak over the top of the barbed-wire fence! .... You can't come in, but if you happen to make it ...we'll feed you, give you free medical, put your kids through school and college to boot!!!

This obviously cannot be controlled at the Federal level. It is up to the States to regulate this, and so far, North Carolina is not doing a very good job of it!

To me, the question is not whether the schools actively allow illegal aliens to enroll, but whether it is their duty to check for citizenship.

Once schools become part of law enforcement, where does it stop? Should we have to prove we are citizens to open a checking account? Or, even to deposit $200 into an existing account? Should grocery stores have to see proof positive you are here legally before the give you a frequent shopper's card? Should there be a retinal scan on parking meters and only allow US citizens to park in OUR parking spaces?

In short, when do we become the type of country we wouldn't want to live in?

Where did the United States go? Why aren't the laws enforced? These people don't even have student visas (or any other kind of visa for that matter).

Instead of the government passing out condoms they need to start passing out KY for us after this blow job

Seems to me that the Governor doesn't care about what is legal or not. Almost like he's condoning anarchy.

"Congress runs the show NOT THE PRESIDENT"

Under Democrat rule. That is the problem.

" Thank God that Easley is on his way out he has really shafted the voters"

Amen to that!
