2 people killed in motorcycle crash
Published May. 10, 2008Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday evening in Johnston County.
There have been some disappointing posts about this story on WRALs blog. We don't need to discuss who is at fault or how to properly lay a motorcycle down ect. ect......it happened none the less. I can tell you all about motorcycles both sport bike and Harley cruisers since I own and ride both but I'll spare you for now.
I didn't know Tommy but I knew Brittany, her sister, and parents from church. She comes from a wonderful family. Her Mom and Dad always ensured the kids were in church on Sunday, something many familes rarely find time to do anymore. I'm sure they all will be rewarded some day. For now I pray to God to give them the strength to continue.
I too have an 18 year old daughter oddly enough named Brittnye. As with all parents every once in a while it crosses my mind "what if my child dies before me?". Then you get a sick feeling in your stomach just thinking about it.
We live near Archer's Lodge fire department. Brittnye leaves the house for school every morning around 7am and I go out to retrieve the paper. On several occations after she has left I have heard the fire department siren go off and my mind starts wondering. Every time this happens I rush in to pick up the phone to call her on her cell to see if she's alright.
I have to watch every morning to make sure my 10 yr old boy gets on the bus ok. It may be weird to some but the bus stops in front of the house with the door facing the other side. I have to see his feet leave the ground getting on the bus and his silhouette walking to the back of the bus.
I know we can't always be there to pick them up when they fall or stand up and fight for them. I want to believe they just are strong enough to take care of themselves.
Being a parent is just plain hard.
Please pray for all involved especially Brittany's sister and parents.

You really have no clue about what you're talking about here. If the investigation reveals that the bikes were speeding, it could be a whole different scenario. Without having seen any of the evidence yourself, I would suggest waiting until it comes out. Having said that, if its revealed that the bikes were not speeding, then it could very well be the truck driver will be charged with failure to yield, and possibly misdemeanor death by vehicle. Hate to tell ya, but that's not a 50 dollar fine.

Remember that if you crash an airplane or touch it down the definition to a good landing is one you can "walk away from".
Same thing goes for a bike....

Yep. You hit the nail on the head. Being a parent has actually brought me to the point of being paranoid at times. My kids mean the world to me. My husband says I need medication....
I no longer fly, I'm scared of bedbugs in hotel rooms, I don't want to drive over a bridge over water and the list goes on...
