Published May. 6, 2008I'm truly sorry WRAL chose Carter Wrenn (Jesse's henchman) to comment. However, his characterization of Obama's speech on restoration of the true American ideals as "shoveling that rhetoric" is the perfect illustration of how depraved the ultra conservative wing of the Republican Party has fallen. I do hope they can't get back up!

My husband sent me an excellent link last night. I gave it to elcid but I don't know if he ever read it. It's long but good.

Kind of ironic that you opened an account tonight.

They were a response to the consequences of the McGovern-Fraser Commission being implemented in 1968. The feeling was that too much authority had been ceded to the electorate, as demonstrated in the weakened campaigns of McGovern and Carter. To rectify that situation, superdelegates were created in order to restore some degree of balance between the electorate and party leadership regarding input into the nomination.
It won't matter much if McCain does get elected. He's likely to be facing an increased Dem majority in both houses, so he'll be neutered to some extent from day one.

See below. They still hate Republicans more than they hate the other Dem. It'll just serve to give them some anger to channel at McCain in November.

Not necessarily. It keeps the base revved up leading up to the convention, and afterwards, the resultant anger at one candidate by necessity not being nominated can then be redirected at McCain and Republicans. I'd much rather have a pi ssed off base than an apathetic one, if I had to choose between the two.
