friday, may 2 update on my mom
Published May. 2, 2008My mom's surgery was a success and the fine Doctors at Duke were able to remove her intestinal obstruction. However, she had to be put on a ventilator subsequent to the surgery because of her age and the condition of her heart. She is still in ICU at Duke but the breathing tube was removed today and she was awake and alert when I left the hospital tonight. She still has a long road to recovery but at least she is breathing, with the help of oxygen, the most pressing problem has been addressed and hopefully she will be able to get some food and water tomorrow for the first time in 8 days.
On behalf of myself, my mom and the entire family, I would like to personally thank each of you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. They really mean a lot and were a tremendous source of strength for me during the roller coaster ride which began last Friday. All of you guys and girls are great in my book and I really appreciate you all. Many thanks again. I appreciate every single one of you. Very sincerely,
Glen
