suggestions anyone?
Published Apr 30, 2008Views: 316
the way all the prices for everything continue to go up (i.e. groceries, gas, etc.) I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for helping the recession we are in currently (or the one we getting ready to enter depending on how you choose to look at it.) any suggestions on cutting costs on certain things, or something like that? Not only to benefit myself, but anyone else who needs help with this. it's scary to think about, but this is only going to get worse before it gets better, so any help/suggestions that anyone has are much appreciated. Thanks, can't wait to see them! have a good day everyone!

But to answer your question. The easiest thing to do is keep a daily journal. Write down what you spend where and on what. Do this for a week or two. Then sit down and categorize your expenditures. Spend 1.25 for a soda 2x a day from a vending machine or convenient store? then stop - and Buy 6 packs from the grocery store and take them to work. (I actually keep a insulated cooler with a frozen gel pack with me).. That kind of stuff.
Preplan your weekly meals - budget and spend accordingly. I noticed a $175/ month savings doing this alone.

Have a cell phone with lots of extras you don't use often? Ditch it.. or kill it all together and go prepaid.
I cut sattelite off 2 years ago. No cable either. I get DSL through phone company. I found I don't miss TV (my brains were being sucked out through my eyes with the dribble on now anyway).
You have to weigh NEEDS vs WANTS eventually depending on how bad it is for you.
My goal 5 years ago was to be completely debt free by 2010. I'm ahead of schedule and outside of my mortage I only have school loan now and a consolidation loan. By 2009 just a mortgage.
