healthcare
Published Apr. 28, 2008So, here is my open forum about healthcare. Sorry that I got off to a late start!
I'd like to know about all of the presidential candidates in-depth healthcare plans. Why is one better than the other? What about loopholes in these plans?
Let it roll! ! !
(Just to clarify. . .Health insurance. . .not life insurance or car insurance)

My surgeon on the other hand, I did research on before I committed to him. I paid $30 and got his background, where he went to school and any grievences against him. However I found in NC they don't require malpractice suits to be publically reports. I'm submitting my letters to our representatives. I think we have a right to know that. I can make my decision based on the information if it is worth overlooking.
as for your brotherNlaw - I have an aunt who was a family MD but didn't live that nicely.

I will at least say this, at least I know that if I have a problem with any of MD's I can complain to my insurer - they will investigate and if it is a huge quality issue, or a trend of quality issues it will be addressed with that MD (of course I would also be shopping for a new MD...) Out on my own, I wouldn't have much recourse (except legal) as the NC Med board is pretty worthless...

Alot of insurers are starting to give bonusus to their participating MD's for performance (based on amount of hospitalizations and complications of members with certain diseases...) I think it is definitely start in the right direction.

I don't know about all of you, but personally, I want the best I can get. I don't want some 3 rank smuck who could barely pass through. And if that means paying the value - I'm willing to do that. It's my health - which means my life I'm putting in their hands.
Everyone says Teachers should get paid more based on value of their performance... I agree and think the same should apply to doctors.
I'm still out on the verdict trying to decide with a plan like Hillary's .. what impact will it have eventually on the doctors who will treat...

I think I would agree that if they ran medicaid more like an HMO that, they could find that not only could they afford to broaden the scope and allow more people to be covered, the program itself would not be as burdensom to the taxpayers that it is now.
