man protests war during military parade

Published Apr. 26, 2008

A 21-year-old war protester was arrested for disorderly conduct during the Salute to Our Troops parade in downtown Raleigh on Saturday.

Man?  Not hardly.  You may not support the war, but you live in a country that allows you to voice your dissension so why not at least do it in a respectful manner?

The boy had the righ to dissent all he wanted. After all, it is still a free country; and a lot of fine men and women have given their lives for those freedoms. Sort of like the times I had to stand in front of the KKK, because it was my job to protect their freedom of speech.

Now of course, there has to be a bit of common sense as to where and how you exercise your free speech.

Rocknhorse nailed it!!!

Whether or not you agree with the war, you should still support the troops. THEY do not make the decision to stay or go. They simply follow the orders that are given. They CHOOSE to fight to defend our rights. Protest the war if you feel that way, but support our troops. They (past and present soldiers) risk their lives to give you freedom to have an opinion!

I would dissent..... against that dissenter. And kick him right square in his "short and curlies".

"dissent is the highest form of patriotism."

That is the silliest thing I've heard in a while. Typical thing most libs say to justify what they do. Like I said before, If you were in some other countries(Iraq or Afghanistan under the old regimes) you would be KILLED for dissent. If you wish to show your dissension do it respectfully and in the right venue, not in the middle of a parade honoring the men and women who fight for your right to do so.

dissent for the sake of dissent is nothing but anarchy - there is nothing patriotic about that

Clearly this 'BOY' never learned respect of any form

Just because you have the right... doesn't make it the right thing to do.

"dissent is the highest form of patriotism."

Really? So the men who fought an died to destroy Hitler would have been more patriotic if they had refused to go?

dissent is the highest form of patriotism.
