why vote for obama?

Published Apr. 16, 2008

I don't intend to vote for Obama or Hillary. I will hold my nose and vote for McCain. I don't intend to debate the reasons listed to vote for Obama so please be specific. I can't believe in this country of so many these are our best choices.

Clinton and McCain are more of the same - their party first, the individual second, and the rest of us in dead last. Obama may end up fitting into that crowd too, but for now, he seems the most likely to surround himself with thoughtful and intelligent people (and not yes men). Honestly, I'm quite disappointed with all the candidates this year in some way or another, but Obama seems to be the "least bad" at this point. McCain is an older George W Bush who can form complete sentences, and Hillary is just like Bill except without the skirt chasing. I think we can do better for OUR country. Obama may crash and burn if elected, but I think he deserves a chance - the other two candidates have already proven many times over that they're party tools who are willing to screw a hundred million Americans in order to thumb their nose at the opposition party. You and I and every other honest American deserve better.

i cant believe the democrats have managed to take a shoo in election and are trying to give it back to the republicans....obama and his bong of hope & change are exciting the young...i now know why they say...youth is wasted on the young...

NC VET, Does it really matter who got us into Vietnam ? Or does it matter more why ? After all, it was the French. It was the paranoid of communism pot bangers who kept the war drum banging. Democrat or republican...they were POLITICIANS ! Macnamara even changed his opinion 180 degrees since then.

Vietnam means way too much for me and many of my buddies who became disillusioned with following, and began to think for ourselves. It meant way too much, seeing, smelling, and touching death. Alcohol and drugs would not remove the memories. Does Vietnam mean anything ? I could write a book. But I prefer to enjoy the flowers which smell sweet, and the life that is now just being born. For yesterday is history, tommorrow is a mystery, and today is all we have. God grant me the serenity to accept what I cannot change, the courage to change what I cannot accept, and the wisdom to know the difference.

"The Speech factor: dude can speak"

Correction: Dude can give a speech.

Off the cuff, he is a moron.

I used to think McCain was DOA, but Obama has changed my mind on that. The question is: which one will implode the worst in the general election?

I am begining to think it is Obama. McCain is going for the middle of the road voters. How is Obama going to shift from Marxist rhetoric to get those voters away from McCain?

Dems are making a HUGE mistake nominating this poltroon.

"The Speech factor: dude can speak"

I'll have to agree on that point. I think the first time I heard him speak was the concession speech for the dem's in 04 (I think). At that time, I thought to myself, I could be looking at the Dem's choice in 2008. In the beginning I thought he sounded an awful lot like Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson.

"Why vote for Obama?"

OK, I'll bite. Reasons he's a consideration for me: The JFK factor: being under 50, he has more cross-age appeal, and is likely to be more in touch with more people.

The Speech factor: dude can speak. He's the new Reagan. He has presence and oratorical skills that haven't been seen in years (nukular? strategery?). The President is our Chief Diplomat, and we're a laughing stock in the wider world. Since we can't afford to keep paying $10 billion/month to 'SuPpoRT OuR TroOpZ!!1!' for another 6 years, it'd help if we can talk our way out of the quagmire we're in.

The Odd-Man factor: he's not a Clinton and he's not a white man supporting the war. He's something new. After a 20 year Bush/Clinton dynasty, I want new. I'm not sure it could be worse, and, for the chance to see new, I'll risk it.

Hey Blackdog does the word "VIETNAM" mean anything. We were there for over 10 yrs and lost 50,000+ and guess who got us into that war? Democrats

Google Ron Paul. He's the only one running that has a brain and spells everything out in plain English. www.ronpaulforpresident.com

I'm voting for my dog.

VOTE PIPPIN!

I have looked at all the reply's, unless I have overlooked something I can't see where anyone listed a "reason" to vote for Obama. In all fairness, some of the more liberal golo'ers do not seem to be on here. Maybe some other time.
