my pet rooster

I mentioned earlier this week on the news that I have a pet rooster. I'm using the term "pet" very loosely here.
The rooster wandered through the neighborhood earlier this week. Animal control set up a trap, but the rooster didn't get close to it. The officers eventually came out to collect the trap, but the rooster lingered.
He really took a liking to my backyard. I made the decision (mistake?) to feed him once. He returned the next day.
My brother came by to see the bird, and at his suggestion, I named the rooster "Luther." He has set up shop in the backyard, intermittently crowing for a few hours every morning.
Luther is very skittish, running wildly into the woods whenever anyone steps onto the deck. Once I throw out some corn and go back inside, the rooster slowly returns and starts eating. The other birds swoop in to finish the leftovers.
Unfortunately, I'm not eligible to win the WRAL.com Pet of the Week contest. Even if I did, I don't think Luther would let me put the collar on him.
