super duper pet peeve
Published Mar. 28, 2008"Your" and "You're" ARE NOT INTERCHANGABLE!!!
YOUR is a pronoun. "Your eyes are pretty!" "Your car is dirty" etc., etc.
"You're" is a contraction of YOU and ARE: "If you're going to the party sign up" "You're lying" "You're an idiot, Mayor Meeker" etc., etc.

My major pet peeve is AFFECT and EFFECT. Probably 90% of the time (on message boards, and sometimes in more professional arenas) I see it being used incorrectly.
If people could learn to use them properly, I'd be a happy girl! lol
for the record:
affect: To have an influence on or effect a change in: Inflation affects the buying power of the dollar.
effect: Something brought about by a cause or agent; a result. The effect of buying more home than you can afford is foreclosure.
