man's right to privacy

Published Mar. 21, 2008

Our Constitution has the strongest privacy clause in the Nation.  For those of you that agree that the drug war is stupid and way too expensive, check out this latest article in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.  Our Supreme Court appears to once again be headed towards reaffirming our right to privacy.  They have done it several times in the past 30 years, and it looks like they will do it again soon.

 http://newsminer.com/news/2008/mar/20/marijuana-possession-argued-alaskas-high-court/

I also found out today listening to the news, we have 7 people serving prison sentences because of marijuana.  Hopefully the Court will fix that.  This  decision (again) should be a model for the rest of the Nation.

I have never used an illegal drug in my life, but our drug laws are simply stupid! "War on drugs?" What a joke! Legalize them all. Of course, that would hurt the income of the lawyers, judges, etc. that make the laws ........

It's all the fault of those *%$! liberals! I'm not sure how, but I suspect we'll find out soon.

As long as police, as part of their duties enforce drug laws, as long as lawyers make money defending drug suspects, as long as judges earn their pay overseeing drug trials, as long as guards are paid to contain drug convicts in prisons, as long as probation officers are employed to check up on drug convicts out on probation..there will be no end to the Drug War. It's a growth industry. Imagine all of those resources I just listed, and that's just the tip of the iceberg, imagine all of those resources used to actually fight violent crime, secure our borders and fight terrorism. What a wonderful, wonderful world it would be.

Excellent points here. So why are we still wasting so much in time, law enforcement resources, courts, lives, and freedoms? It seems that may very well be simply because alcohol is more accepted as SDJ stated.

We need to hold our representatives way more accountable in my opinion. It really sickens me to think of all the freedoms we have lost in this country, mostly over the last 80 years or so...

Thanks for keeping us thinking down here Yukon!

the rush is on" has a totally different meaning now that i think of it...;)

LOL at Donald

OR--I finally make it on pc early in a m and you got to sing my most favorite song, movie when I was younger. North to Alaska and now it's stuck in my head. You are a most kind gentleman..LOL

IMO this needs to be treated the same way alcohol and tobacco is. It has been proven that these things are harmful to our health but our government does give us personal choice to purchase and use them so IMO they should stop locking folks up and wasting court time for this. They should require sellers to have a license and report their income like any other farming commodity. If they catch drug dealers bringing their merchandise across borders without the special selling license then they are the ones who should be sent to prison. Hard drugs are a different matter. They should give the user a choice of helping catch the pusher with rehab opportunities. NO SECOND CHANCES......

My Hero....! "A way up north, a way up North....North...to Alaska, North to Alaska Go North, the rush is on" has a totally different meaning now that i think of it...;) Have a good Easter cuz...

Do you mean "Our State" Constitution...;)

We lock up kids for drugs, but child molesters get a slap on the wrist --- that is insane!!!!
