wake group: admitting to gangs is first step in tackling problem

Published Mar. 20, 2008

The first step in attacking the growing problem of gangs is a regional collaborative effort that dmits there is a problem, according to a local gang-prevention group.

I have said how to solve the problem.  I have said the war is not overseas...the war is right here.  Police can't handle this job, there are more gang members than cops so we need our troops over here to defend this land.  Eve Carson would be alive today if it were not for gangs.  We need the troops to fight and protect here.  Whereever there is gang territory is where the troops should be.  We need to identify the leaders and take them out like Al Queda.  1 by 1 .  Just blow their heads off is what I say.

oh yeah southern...absolutely right. I work at a mental hospital and criminals come in all the time....high profile cases...thier lawyer gets them to come here and play insane and never spend 1 day in prison for murders.

Iamforjustice: You forgot, with free medical care.

Why is it a city the size of Shanghai, parents let their children roam the streets without worry? Less crime right...and why is their less crime....nobody there wants to go to prison..and why...prisons are PRISONS over there....here they are just a temporary place to sleep away from home. No fear at all whatsoever.

This may sound stupid to some of you law abiding citizens....until a loved one of yours gets murdered...but I say capture some gang members, give them some truth serum..or beat the hell out of them...and make them squeal on other gang members until it reaches the top. Like I always say....you can continue to break the branches but until you kill the root the tree will continue to grow. We need to get to the root of these gang members.

yes, my list was not meant to be comprehensive, just to illustrate that the boys that killed Eve Carson were not gang members, they were just thugs that needed some money and a car, and thought they could pull it off. I think the two murders show that they were theives that were willing to kill to get what they wanted. This is not characteristic of how and why gang bangers kill.

Your blog reads something completly different than what you are trying to address then. You are speaking of gangs in the blog, and say forget about it below. What's the topic here? Gangs and the boys that killed Eve Carson operate in completly different ways. Our legal system failed in taking care of these boys not the police or anyone else.

YAY IMJ! Police are understaffed and outnumbered. What's worse is the gang members are let out of jail faster than the police can file the paperwork. The first step is the public needs to elect hard nosed judges and not ones who give pity parties.

I totally agree....something has to be done.

pooh, not true. They kill because of warring, or to gain power, look tougher towards their gang members, in retaliation, the list goes on.

First of all I grew up in New York and as far as gangs are concernced they are a menace to society. Let's not focus on gangs anymore. Lets focus on what is it going to take to get people to understand that the police can only do so much and there is a shortage. People do these random killings because they have no fear of repercussions. They don't fear citizens anymore. We need to take the matter in our own hands sometimes. We need to take it to the street. Blow some heads up. That is what I say.
