meet "sue donym" | the golo profile

This week we get up close and somewhat personal with the fun-loving, clever GOLO sweetheart, "Sue Donym."  Sue and I had a chance to chat late last week, and the conversation went like this:

Angela: I’ve always loved your screen name. It’s the ultimate pseudonym. You’re pretty clever.

Sue Donym: Thank you. I like to think so…Laughs….

Angela: Okay, I have to ask this. Are you in love with Brett Favre?

Sue: You know it!

Angela: When did your fascination start?

Sue: We were in college at the same time.

Angela: So you know him?

Sue: I wish!

Angela: Was it the same college?

Sue: Oh no.

Angela: I heard their website had major issues on the day he announced his retirement. Did you cause the crash?

Sue: (Laughs long and loudly.)  I’m sure I contributed to it.

Angela: Everyone on GOLO was talking about you that day.

Sue: I’m pretty crushed. I was sure he’d hang around another season after he almost made it to the Super bowl.

Angela: Are you retiring

Sue: No I’ve been a Green Bay fan for a long time. Team loyalty is important.

Angela: Who are some of your favorites on GOLO?

Sue: I like so many people. The person who intrigues me the most is Orenthawl James. There will always be a special place in my heart for the original pool party group from last summer. A few I’ve been dying to meet for a while, in fact I had dinner with a few GOLO’ers last night. .

Angela: Anyone I know?

Sue: You know them all don’t you?

Angela: Is this something you ever thought you’d be doing? Meeting people in person after meeting them online?

Sue: No No No.  I would have expected to have met a lot of freaks on the internet. What I’ve found is there’s a real person behind the screen name and many are pretty terrific.

Angela: I think I know the answer to this but if you were the only woman left in the world, who would you want to be the last man?

Sue: Yeah, you do know the answer. (Brett Favre, of course...)

Angela: Where in the world would you like to visit?

Sue: I’ve never been to Europe. I would definitely like to do that.

Angela: Do you make goals or live by the day?

Sue: I’d say a little bit of both. I’m very much a “live in the moment” person but I’m also driven.

Angela: What drives you?

Sue: (Pauses and seems to be reflecting…)

I guess I’ve pretty much always known what I’ve wanted to do and I do everyday what I was born to do. I can honestly say that I love going to work everyday and not a lot of people can say that. I’m lucky.

Angela: Even with gas prices, you enjoy going to work everyday?

Sue: (Laughs) Luckily I make enough to afford the gas to go back and forth.

I play hard too but I have to work hard in order to do that.

Angela: What does your work entail?

Sue: I don’t want to get too heavily into that but I will say part of my job involves staying online a lot in order to be available to people who need to contact me with questions as they come up, and GOLO is perfect for filling in the gaps between those questions.

Angela: So GOLO fits right into your life?

Sue: Well, some days are more GOLO than gaps.

(We both laugh)

Angela: Who has had the most influence on your life?

Sue: I consider myself a self-made person. I think I’ve controlled my own destiny to a great extent.

Angela: So you think that people can grow up not being a product of their environment?

Sue: Absolutely. I help people do that daily.

Angela: Tell me something interesting about you?

Sue: I’m a vegetarian.

Angela: For how long?

Sue: Since my early 20’s.  I see no difference in eating a cow or a pig than eating a cat or dog. I don’t think true compassion for living things begins and ends with the animals we think are cute and cuddly and allow to live in our houses.

Angela: Wow, that’s deep.

Sue: It doesn’t mean I don’t have love for my carnivore friends, it just means more meat for them.

Angela: I really respect that. I enjoy meat, but I still respect it.

Sue: More for you then, see how that works.

(We laugh)

Angela: What will people say about you once you’re gone?

Sue: I’d like to think they would say she was friendly and fun-loving or something along those lines. But lately I think the word they’d use to describe me is “loud.”

Angela: Really?

Sue: People say they can often hear me before they see me. I used to think they were exaggerating but others agree with that.  I’ve been told I put the “L” in LOL!

Angela: Wow, then you really are loud.

Sue: I guess so…

Angela: It’s been fun Sue

Sue: Thank you so much I had fun too.
