meet "sessy" | the golo profile

Published Mar. 4, 2008

You can't be a member of GOLO for long without hearing about our resident sweetheart, Sessy. Once known as "Sessy Italiana" she now goes by "Dayum Sessy" or just plain old "Sessy." But whatever you call her, you can't call her boring, that's for sure. Sessy took a few moments from her job to chat with me last week. Here is what she had to say:

Angela: Well if it isn’t the party girl herself…

Sessy: (Laughs for a really long time). You know me so well.

Angela: And so do a few other GOLO’ers.

Sessy: It’s funny that you say that because I went out with Packgirl and Pinklady last night and we had a good time. It’s nice to vent and have fun. That’s what it’s all about.

Angela: Did you ever think you’d be meeting friends you met on the internet in person?

Sessy: NEVER. Never.

Angela: What made this different?

Sessy: It was everyone getting together for (my friend) Tom. I was so amazed of how many people showed up, just strangers that I never knew and the outcome of the GOLO people. It really touched my heart in ways that I can’t explain. I looked out at everyone at the end of the day and broke down into tears.

Angela: Urging people to support a friend who had lost his wife and whose twin girls had lost their mom said a lot about your character.

Sessy: Thank you. I try to do what I can for people whether it’s giving them a shoulder to cry on, advice…anything that I have to offer.

Angela: One thing that you offer is laughs.

Sessy: (Laughs again) From the time I wake up ‘til the time I go to bed, I can’t tell you how much I laugh. That’s just me. That’s my personality. Always laughing,  Always smiling.

Angela: You do appear to be having a good time in every picture you’ve ever posted on GOLO.

Sessy: Yes, it’s the only way to live life. As bad as things can get for me I always think “someone’s got it worse.”

Angela: It’s quite clear that you have an affinity for cars. How did that happen?

Sessy: I think it all started with me liking horses as a child and horses turning into

“horsepower”. In seventh grade I got really interested in different types of muscle cars and got more curious as I got older. I’m really into Mustangs. I guess it’s a fascination with loudness and speed. (Pauses)  And men.

Angela: Since were on the subject, is there a Mister Sessy?

Sessy: NO. (Answers very quickly)

Angela: Is there an opening?

Sessy: I’m taking applications but scanning very thoroughly.

Angela: Is there an application fee? (We both laugh)

Sessy: Is that a trick question? (Still laughing)

No fees, but I’m VERY picky.

Angela: You strike me as the type who makes friends wherever you go. You know, sit in the emergency room for three hours and you walk out with everyone’s phone number.

Sessy: I have had so many people tell me after meeting me for the first time that they felt like they’ve known me forever. I’m just an easy person to get along with. I care about people, whether I know them or not, and I’m not judgmental.

Angela: I remember the blog about your 40th birthday. I’ve heard that 40 is the new 30. Is that true?

Sessy: That is an understatement. I can’t tell you how amazing it is. I was really depressed prior to turning 40 but now when I say it I smile and nobody ever believes I’m 40 anyway. It makes me feel good when I don’t feel it. I’m not living a 40 year old lifestyle.

Angela: You have lots of friends in the military. That’s important to you isn’t it?

Sessy: I care very much about all of our soldiers but especially the ones I’m personal friends with. One is now home from Afghanistan and another just got home from Iraq, for a year and I’ve got one who just went back to Iraq and another still there hoping he’ll be home soon.

Angela: Do they know you talk about them and share their pictures on GOLO?

Sessy: I always tell them and share the messages from the GOLO community.

Angela: Is there anything odd or bizarre about you that you’d like to share?

Sessy: I’m just me, but if I ask anyone at work they’d probably name ten things at once. Oh…I quit smoking on  February 8th

Angela: Really? How’s that coming along?

Sessy: It’s been a challenge. It’s really hard.

Angela: How are you managing it?

Sessy: Cold Turkey.  I just keep saying I don’t want to smoke anymore. I haven’t had one slip yet and  I’m very proud of myself. You can ask the girls from last night. I did not smoke.

Angela: Is there a famous person you would like to meet?

Sessy: The Rock.  I love that man.

Angela: Are you attracted to his intellect?

Sessy: (More laughter) I’m attracted to everything about that man.

Angela: What do you want to do before you die?

Sessy: Go to Europe. I would leave to go to Italy. And meet The Rock.

Angela: What if I told you you could meet him if you stopped smoking for a year?

Sessy: I wouldn’t smoke for five years to meet that man.

Angela: I’m gonna let you go, Sessy. We’re having too much fun

Sessy: (We laugh, yet again.) Yeah, I had a good time!

Talk about narcissistic!!! Get over yourself.

"I’m just an easy person to get along with."

I couldn't have said it better myself! Great article Sessy! :)

Angela should have allowed us to submit the questions to be asked !

well geez I wanted to know which kind of pickle is Sessy's favorite, ;-( . . .

Great interview, if only more people had your attitude! :o) It's awesome that you quit smoking and are doing so well. My husband smoking for 25+ years and quit cold turket 2 years ago, he says after a couple of months, it's alot easier, and now he does not know why he did not quit sooner. Thanks for sharing with us, I feel like I have known you forever now!

Keep that awesome smile!

Oh Sessy, I heard the Rock was gay. I cried. :-(

That was GREAT Sessy!!! Yes she did cry that day for everyone coming out and supporting...she was like a huge light in the room getting everyone together!!!

Great Job Again!!! *HUGS*

Great interview Sessy! 40 ain't bad, I am almost there. At least I hope not.

Ya know, a lot of people tell me that I favor the Rock, only better looking.
