testimony begins in border agent's trial
Published Feb. 27, 2008A U.S. Border Patrol agent on trial for murder was threatened with a rock when he fatally shot an illegal immigrant, his defense told a federal jury Wednesday, while a prosecutor claimed the man did not provoke the attack. His very presence on US soil illegally is a provocation enough for action on the part of the Border patrol agent. In no way do I support the open execution of people trying to cross the border, however if this country is ever to be safe from intruders there has to be a precedent set. If the borders were closed as they are supposed to be then we would not have incidents like this. If we are to keep the borders patrolled and secure as possible then we have to allow our agents to enforce the law and take appropriate action. It is so easy for an arm chair quarterback to analyze an inident for weeks after it happens instead of acting in the course of of a few seconds. So many times people get few facts from the media and make a judgement as to the motivation of law enforcement. It is different when you are the one faced with a situation and in a few brief seconds have to analyze and react to it. In most cases your average people would react the same and those that do not would be injured or killed. This is not the only incident where the US government has turned against the very people that they trust to protect our borders. I can only hope that the very prosecutors that are involved in this case face one day the same situation and see how they react...shoot or have your head smashed.

I would think if you shot from the U.S. you would be tried under U.S. laws.....but good point. Here's another one - if you do kill one on mexican soil does that make his family automatic citizens? lol j/k
