Published Today at 1:10 a.m. "George Bush is the reason George Bush is a very lame duck. He got us into a war without any thought to getting out. He has alienated our international allies. His vaunted Homeland Security Department is a joke. His handling of Katrina was awful. His effort to compensate for a bad job on Katrina has taken him to Louisiana enough times to become a registered voter there. With failure after failure, President Bush doesn't need any help being lame; he's doing just fine."—Bob Beckel, USA TODAY, October 12, 2005.

George Bush has been underestimated for over eight years now - running all the way back to candidate Bush. He is often depicted as a "moron" and made fun of with his "Bushisms".
Yet history shows a track record of results - _whether you like the policy behind them or not_. At every turn, it seems, he has outwitted and outmaneuvered Democrats to get his agenda pushed through.
So, we will just have to wait and see if he is indeed a lame duck. I'm thinking he will get some more things he wants passed through a Democratic congress. At the very least, he will wield his veto effectively on "ear marks" and other pork - something that he has failed to do during his first seven years...
