house: still moving forward

We've finally reached a point where everything seems to be moving forward. Now everything we do is "building" rather than demolishing/repairing. It's definitely a good feeling!
We have taken advantage of the lift on the burn ban! Our lot started out completely woods and we had a lot of clearing to do. By the time we were ready to do some major burning, the burn ban went into effect. So we've waited patiently until we could burn. We've spent about 2 weeks, now, burning all the wood, cleaning up the stumps and burning them, raking and scraping the area and now we have a nice, clean yard to work with.
As you know, we hired a framer to build the garage. That is now complete - framing anyway. We also hired a roofer (there are just some jobs I am not meant to do!). What a great job they both did! The framer had quite the challenge to figure out how do the roof lines. He did an amazing job and now we have a bonus room that is almost as big as our first house (it's really quite obscene!). He was able to tweak the plans and give us much more square footage than the plans called for. We're thrilled.
The roofer (Dana Deans) also did an incredible job. Not only did he do a good job with the roofing, but he paid attention to the little details that many contractors over look-like laying tarp down across the porch so there were no stains, picking up nails, cleaning up behind himself. If anyone needs to have their roof done, I highly recommend him!!!
As you can see from the picture, we are almost finished with the front porch. Once that is complete, we will be done with all framing! We have been shopping for windows and I'll be meeting with a contractor who does windows tomorrow. We plan to use standard sized windows.
Doors and siding will be next!!!
So, now that you can hopefully get an idea abou the house, I'm taking suggestions. We had originally planned to go with white hardiplank siding and black shutters. Now, I'm debating a neutral, almost khaki siding w/forest green shutters. I think the white will give the house more of an 'old farm house' look, but the khaki/green would be very pretty as well. What do you guys think?
I have created a new photo gallery, showing some before/after pictures of the progress. It amazes me to go back and look at the before pictures. I can't believe how far we've come. If you take a look, let me know what you think!
